Personal Calendar

The Timeline keeps users informed and gives important information in bite sized content.

It gives them access to time, date, contact details and other class information they have signed up for.

Key Flows

Movement_Home screen

The screen has two main tabs the user can switch in between. Movement acts as the primary, tracker being the other where the user can explore offerings, disciplines or trainers of their liking. Each of which leads to them to more specific screens with actions to follow.

Booking a session

The example flow here shows the booking of a personal one-on-one offline session.

The main screen is designed to have utmost discoverability and let the user decide which program they want to explore.

Once they have time and date finalized they book and wait for trainer’s acceptance depending on their schedule, if accepted the user goes on to make the payment (flow below)

Take a physical test!

The flow illustrates the process of taking a physical test to check the level of fitness.

Users can customize the intensity of the test along with targeted body parts.

Once done they are required to fill a small questionnaire to optimize the results.

Empathy Mapping

The takeaways from observing avid users using their fitness applications highlighted some important frustrations

The major drawback was the inability to personally chat and understand their fitness plan from their trainers or coaches

Absence of flexible schedule that offers them a range of offers

Wanted to explore more disciplines than already existing and to have different levels of trainers

Wish there was way to personally chat with the instructor to know more about a class

Absence of personalized plans

Has multiple apps to track nutrition, physical activity and measure the same

Wants transparency in what information is being shared to whom and for how long

Wants quick and easy glimpse of personal calendar

Lacks options to choose from in varied difficulty level

Limited experts in diverse fitness discipline

Enjoys when they reached a level higher

I want a customized plan where I have flexibility in one on one sessions and group sessions

If theres a way to monitor my all around physical activity in and outside the app, that would ease the tracking process

Final feature breakdown

The scope was fixed and key features were identified based on the inter relationally of features and looking at how they compliment each other and based on what is essential to give the user a complete ease of flow to achieve holistic experience.

The two central actions on the home page were defined to be Explore _ where the user has options to check different trainers, classes , programs , or disciplines.

The Tracker _ maintains the key stats about the user and gives them a quick overview when needed.

Other flows included, managing personal calendar or roster, viewing other trainers’ public profile as well as manage your own as a user, and managing personal data access.

Payment flow

The payment flow offers a standard easy and convenient way for the first time users to set up payment and confirm the booking with no hassle.

Fitness Tracker_ Home screen

The Tracker main screen displays various widgets that are stacked in order of priority and frequency of use. The page serves as a quick overview as to when the user needs to check their daily tracker information.

Clicking on each then gives you more information and your history within that specific title.

Public Profile View

Users can explore profiles of various professionals containing details about their services and personal background. This enables users to make informed decisions about whether or not they want to take a class with a specific person.

Data Access

To maintain transparency and give users the control to handle their data shared.

Updated list of trainers who have access to relevant personal data is visible.

Once the program with a specific trainer ends, the system stops sharing data and at any given time the user can edit and decide what they want to share and what they don't, building trust.

Challenges & Learning

Navigating market dynamics and analyzing large-scale product cycles was challenging, requiring a deep understanding of the industry to identify gaps and propose effective solutions.

Engaging with stakeholders gave me valuable insight into business needs and goals, shaping my design decisions.

Accomplishments I Cultivated

Implemented the design language for consistency.

Aligned functional aspects with user needs based on feasibility.

Developed a versatile framework for dynamic use and future scalability.

Understanding of the various API model and mode of implementation.

Iterating on designs based on feedback from stakeholders and developers helped refine and implement impactful changes.

I learned the importance of open communication with engineers to access key data and ensure smooth collaboration.

Initially, we delved into comprehensive research, gaining insights into the topic, studying existing companies engaged in similar endeavors, and exploring current trends and future prospects.

Moving on our focus shifted to user research, meticulously examining diverse opportunity areas for innovation and satisfying both ends of the client base i.e professionals hosting their services and end users using them.

Gap in the market

Major gap in the market that was identified post studying the major apps in the fitness industry like CultFit, HealthifyMe, Google Fit and more was that

None of the apps in the market provided a all-around service that let user perform all the activities mapped out in one singular platform.

Which led to:

  • Inaccurate health tracking

  • Was time consuming

  • Over whelming to keep up with the scheduled calendar

  • No way to measure growth and compare past data.
